Ok wow things are so different here. I have officially moved on to a
new area and it is so different from Fujisawa. The physical area is
not much different but the way these missionaries do things here are
soo different. It’s good though. I Love my new companion. I think we
will get along just fine. She is so easy going and laid back. Not to
much gets to her so I love that. But in a way it stresses me out
because I feel like things should be done differently only because
that is what I’m use to. But no worries. My Companion is Sister Harper
and she is from London England and she has the coolest accent. She is
actually half American half British. Her Dad is American and her mom
is British. We already hit it off when we found out that we have both
read Visions of Glory, she told her mom and her mom is in love with me
now. She wants to meet me… Umm ok, I will go to London to visit :-).
As I left Fujisawa I got to say good bye to Satoko. Satoko is the lady
who came to Questions of the soul with us. She has no Christian back
ground and learned so much at the presentation. She was sad to hear I
was leaving and as we were getting ready to part she said she had to
go, she doesn’t do well with good byes and she was going to start
crying. OMG tear at the heart strings!!! I had No IDEA the impact I
had on her until she said that. I mean I knew I was helping change her
life in a way but usually the missionaries see it more then they do.
At least that’s what I thought. She made me a card with a letter
telling me how I really helped her find a job and how I helped gave
her confidence and every time she reads the BOM she thinks of us. What
an amazing thing to see. I am so happy I could see a little of how I
made a difference in someone’s life. I also said good bye to Sayaka. I
called her and told her I was leaving. She was way sad to. Sayaka Is
so funny. She is kinda taking the lessons but she doesn’t want to give
up drinking. She loves drinking to much to become a member. I hoping
over years she will change her mind. Most of her friends are Mormon
now and she comes to ALL of the activities. The Sisters from Fujisawa
says she has a present for me and we have to figure out how to get it
to me. I was also sad to leave Campos Shimai. Campos Shimai is Kylans
friend. She has been depressed lately because her husband is still in
America and she is here alone ( kinda). The new area is going to be
great. It’s going to be a fresh start. My Japanese is coming along.
Slowly but surely. Oh and the new Apartment is AWESOME! I will have to
film it and show it to you guys. We have a dryer! We are soo lucky!
That’s about it for this week. I love you guys!!!!

We got transfer calls today! I’m moving to Tokorozawa! I leave
Thursday. My new companion is Sister Harper, she is from London. I’m
soo excited!! I could always have ties to England so I can visit
sometime. This week was good. Today for p- day we are going to go to
H&M at the mall. I really need new black shoes. The ones mom got me in
the MTC just before I left are falling apart, so we are going to get
me some new ones today. Last Tuesday I went on Splits with Sister
Gappmayer and we went to the mall and talked to so many people and it
was so fun. It felt the most natural and at ease when it came to
talking to people. We do splits again on Wednesday and we will most
likely do that again. Saturday Homem Shimai and her family took us to
COSTCO! It was so fun. She bought us so much food. We ate regular
American tasting food. I had a hot dog with all the works. She got us
a huge pizza to take home. It’s really nice to have extras to not have
to worry about making food and taking it places. My Japanese is slowly
getting better. I can almost do a whole lesson by myself…. Almost!
There are so many mosquitos. We get eaten alive out here. I probably
have 11 bites on my legs alone. My poor legs look so scarred and tore
up. Not a pretty site. Well sorry. My email is really lame this week.
I really don’t have much to say.  I’m excited for my new area. I think
it will be fun. It will be a nice change of scenery. I was starting to
feel a little trapt here. I LoVE Ashby Shimai but little things were
starting to drive me CRAZY! Well family, I love you! Keep me in your

Today was so much fun! We went to Enoshima island for p- day. We went
up and walked around all the shrines and other things. I bought some
goodies that will be fun keep sakes. And post cards. It is so hard to
find post cards here. The videos that I sent you was of Ashby Shimai
and my p- day. They show the things we saw today. It was soo fun. And
soo needed to de stress. I sent a video of me trying to throw coins
into a box. It’s suppose to be a wish box type thing.if you make it in
you get your wish. I did make a coin in but when we started taping I
didn’t make any. Of coarse right?! As soon as the camera is on, I miss
every single one. The island is so beautiful. I hope you guys enjoy
the videos. I feel so lucky to have an I pad, I can actually send
little videos to you guys and it is so easy. It makes it fun when I
can share what I’m experiencing with you. We had a good week. We met
with Satoko again, I don’t remember if I told you about her but we
gave her a BOM before and she came to Questions of the Soul where our
mission president was giving presentation on Christ and related it to
Ghandi. She loved it and said she learned so much in a little amount
of time. She was excited to go home and tell her husband. All of this
happened about 3 weeks ago. We saw her again on Saturday. We all went
to lunch and we found out more about her. She went home and told her
husband everything she learned that night. He wasn’t very happy that
she was taking an interest in religion. He was traumatized as a kid.
His dad was Buddhist and his mom converted to Jehovah’s Witness. His
parents fought a lot and almost broke up. So he blames it on religion.
But she told him that she still wants to go to eikaiwa. She has been
reading little verses from the BOM and she LOVES it! She is not sure
about a God but we testified about Him to her. We asked her what it
would mean to her if there really was a God. She really thought about
it for a while and she i said it would bring peace to her. The spirit
was so strong. We were asking all the right questions to get her
thinking about things. We couldn’t get her to commit to taking the
lessons but we said we are ready when she is. She just has to let us
know. She said the sweetest thing. She said that every time she opens
the BOM she sees our faces. How sweet was that! She also said she will
read it when she starts to get a little depressed or discouraged and
she always seems to find good verses that give her comfort. We told
her a little bit about the Holy Ghost and what she is feeling is from
God. She won’t be able to come to eikaiwa all the time but she really
likes it and when she comes she will ask us questions there. I think
this was my first Really big experience were I saw someone come closer
to Christ. It was amazing. I love you all! Thank you for your prayers
and support.

Hello family! Man I’m so tired right now. I have been working my tail
off it seems like. Ok so funny story. Tuesday we went to volunteer at
the old folks place and when we got there this lady just clung to me.
She was so funny. So she is talking to me and talking really fast fast
so I do what I always do when I don’t understand, I nod my head and
say yes and smile and pretend I’m understanding what she says. Well,
one of the Elders sat closer to us and he can actually understand
Japanese, he looks at me and says, ” what did you agree to”, I said I
don’t know, I don’t understand her” and then he says, ” well she
thinks your pregnant”….. WHAT! So then joust busted up laughing and
then I was like ok I should stop agreeing to things I don’t understand
and so I refrained from nodding my head as many times or saying yes.
And then the Elder said that she asked if I was married and when I
didn’t say anything or nod she took it as a no. MAN, I just couldn’t
win. I was just making it worse. But it was soo funny. And I have come
to the conclusion that I should stop wearing that skirt and probably
should lose a little bit of weight. So I was off bread and rice this
week. If anything else I’m going to lose so much water weight just
from this humidity. It is a. KILLeR. I have never sweated so much and
it’s not even the hottest it’s going to get. I was seriously
embarrassed with the dress I wore today. It was like sweat just
seeping through and I couldn’t hide it. I really don’t know what I’m
going to do when it gets hotter. We had a couple of miracles this
week. One of my favorites was when we went to a park. On Saturday and
we ran into a lady who was German and her daughter. We started talking
to them and we had a really fun conversation and by the end they said
Thank you, we were waiting for you to approach us. Then we went to a
bakery on the way back to the train station and a lady stopped Ashby
Shimai and started asking her English questions, and asked really hard
ones. She asked why ‘near sighted’ as in eye sight, is with an ED at
the end. Doesn’t it make it past tense? Any ways we didn’t really know
the answer so we told her we would like to meet again and we will
research it and let her know the answer. Does any one know? Any ways
we exchange numbers and she said thank you I will be waiting for your
call. Two people said they were waiting for us. I felt like that was a
sign from heaven that we were doing what we were suppose to. Well
that’s all I have for this week. I hope you get a laugh out of it. 🙂
Man the challenges of not being able to speak the language. 🙂 it’s
been way fun.
Love you all!
